You have three possible reactions to difficult situations:flight, fright, and fight. To be confident you must fight and conquer fear and anxiety.there are a number of 'fear fighters can use to do this:
- slow down Adopt a 'no hurry,no worry'philosophy.stand back and stay cool!
- Seek support from other people A problem shared is a problem halved.Talk openly with a good friend or professional counsellor.
- Live one day at a time Concern yourself only with today and don't be anxoius about tomorrow.
- Tough-mindedness.
- Beat stress Controlling stress reduces anxiety and tensions.Meditation and relaxation techniques can help a great deal.Hypnosis may also be worth a try in your fight against fear.
- Assess the odds.Concern yourself only with things that are likely to happen.
- Remove nice thoughts Re-assert your control over things you are afraid of.Some people have conquered their fear of flying by learning how to fly an aeroplane themselves! You also need to learn to calm a troubled mind and banish unwanted thoughts.Keep busy to stop yourself dwelling on your problems.
- Pur things into perspective. Make sure that you concentrate on important things.Life is too short to worry about things which in retrospect will seem trivial. In times of difficulty it is easy to blow up a problem out of all proportion.Don't do this-treat every problem on its merits.Ask youself:'what is the worst that can possibly happen if I can't solve my problem?'the answer is never as bad as you fear.
- Remember that other people are human too.Give yourself confidence in your relationships with others by realising their failures and appealing to their humanity.
- get all the facts Information gives you the power to deal with a problem better
