Good Banking Practices - Credit Card Tips

Timely Payments and Advantages:
  • Pay at least the minimum due before due date to ensure a good credit history. You can enrol for standing instruction to do this.
  • A good credit history on your credit card may make you eligible for other credit products as well as for promotional offers on credit card.
Safety and Security:
  • Sign your credit cards as soon as you receive them from the bank.
  • Keep a list in a secure place with all your account numbers, expiry dates and customer helpline number for quick reference. If your credit card is lost, report it to the bank immediately to avoid misuse.
  • Never share your credit card PIN with anyone. Don't write your PIN on your credit card or have it anywhere near your credit card.
  • Use your credit card only on secured websites with the symbol: Security Symbol
  • Keep an eye on your credit card every time you use it. Ensure the transaction is processed in your presence wherever possible.
Important Checks:
  • Retain your charge slip copy till such time the transaction is reflected in your corresponding card billing statement. Report any unauthorised transaction to the bank within 30 days of the statement date.
  • Keep your credit card in the same place in your wallet; you’ll notice when it’s missing.
  • Always check the transaction amount before signing the credit card receipt. Carefully draw a line through blank portions of the receipt where additional charges could be fraudulently added.
  • If you move to a new place, notify your credit card issuers in advance of your change of address.
